1951 – present
Bosch introduced the Universal series of mixers in 1951. The original bowl was a 6-quart, dough-only enamel-on-steel bowl with a bottom-mounted dough hook. The rated dough capacity of this bowl is 14 pounds. This bowl used a three-pin metal splash-ring that fit down over the outside of the bowl.
I have a German Bosch Universal manual from 1961 that shows this bowl on a Universal Model 1, and so can suggest that it had at least a 10-year production run.
Generation 2
The second in the “Original Bowl” series is a stainless steel version of the enameled bowl. It still had three splash-ring locking pins on the exterior of the bowl, but they had moved on to a plastic splash-ring that was interchangeable with their plastic bowl.
Generation 3 – the MUZ6ER1
The third generation of the original-style Bosch Universal bowl made only minor changes. The splash-ring locking pins are on the inside of the bowl and the splash-ring sits inside the lip of the bowl. My guess is that this change was made to prevent flour from making it’s way down the outside of the bowl as sometimes could happen with the older splash-rings. I have no supporting evidence at this time, but it would make sense that this bowl was introduced with the 1984 re-design of the Universal.
This third-generation bowl is still in production today as the model [easyazon-link asin=”B0006DOROQ”]MUZ6ER1[/easyazon-link]. The ER1 will fit both Classic Universals as well as the [easyazon-link asin=”B001V5XZGO”]Universal Plus[/easyazon-link]. However, with the new Universal Plus, people are recommending rubber bumpers be used to stabilize the bowl. While I don’t have a Universal Plus, it is my understanding that the ER 1 will be somewhat unstable without the bumpers in place on the mixer.
In 1964 I got an Universal Model 1 for my birthday and today it is still running althoug I the beater en mixer attachment and the liquidizer are out of use and it seems I cannot get spear parts.
New bowls and beaters made for the Universal (NOT the Universal Plus) will fit your Model 1.
I am relatively confident, however that there are no liquidizer parts that will work on one that old.

hello
I have got a machine like this one, but its capacitor, burnt out, so do you know where I can find the schematics, and a capacitor for this machine?
I don’t specifically know of anyone that would have such a part. But I’ve ordered other things from this company in the past with good luck:

They should be able to point you in the right direction if nothing else.

the hook in the bowl, is it supposed to be loose, or not, I mean, does the hood, tightly fit, the pin in the center of the bowl, or is it a bit loose around the pin?
All the ones I have seen are loose. The hook seems to sit on the bottom of the bowl with a lot of “play” between the pin and the hook.
The one I have was loose to the point that I thought I might lose the part that holds the hook in place. But I was able to get it replaced and presto, like new!
It only cost me a couple of bucks.
have you ever had to replace any of the parts, of the mixing bowl?
especially the bushing, the gasket for bushing, the nut, or the drive pin?
I have replaced all of that, yes. The new parts work on the old bowls, but the old & new parts are not interchangeable. The old bushings are very difficult to remove in my experience. The new ones are much much easier.
I have a generation 2, bowl, but with a splash ring made of aluminium, so I have looked at it, those parts, that I have mentioned before, the bushing, the gasket for bushing, the nut, but when i look at it it does not seem easy to replace. When you said that the parts are not interchangeable, I take that they are different.
So If I look at bowl, Muz6ER1, and its parts, according to you, these parts work on the generation 2 bowl. It would be good, to know how to do it. I have looked for something like that on youtube, but nothing is there. My bowl is all metal, base is stainless steel, but I feel, that I need to replace those parts, and when you say very difficult to remove, I go 🙁 .
The older bowls had a fine-threaded metal ring that attached to the plastic bushing. This was almost certainly never easy to get off, but over time, they seemed to meld together.
I had to use a hammer and screwdriver to turn the metal ring on my old enameled bowl. Perhaps someone more familiar with tools would know the proper way to do it.
The new bushing and ring are both plastic with coarse threads and can be removed by hand for washing.
Maybe you can help. I have an Universal Bosch that is still working after 35 years! I love the large stainless bowl with s/s ring and the way it mixes my wheat bread dough. I am having trouble with the piece in the middle that connects the dough hook with the power unit. The rubber seal is gone bad and liquid leaks down into the socket. Do you know where I can get a schematic drawing so I can identify the parts, or maybe where I can go to ask? My local Bosch source has never seen my unit(most of the employees are younger than my machine!) and can’t help.
Carla,
I am pretty sure that even with your old bowl, you can fix your problem. It may be as simple as replacing a gasket, but you may also need to replace the entire center hub assembly.
If you go to the following link and look at part number 2 and / or part number 9 …

I am looking for the post to hold the grater and shredder parts for the old stainless steel bosch bowl. It has the aluminum lid with a feeder tube and a plunger.
